DECA to attend Washington D.C. Power Trip
Madison DECA Successful at Leadership Conference in Washington DC
Washington DC is not a surprising venue for business conferences and events. The nation's capitol is often a popular focal point in the business world, and the home of many famous business men and women today. The bustling city was a prime location for the DECA power trip conference during November 20-23, 2014.
DECA is an organization that teaches students professionalism and business skills in high schools and colleges across the country, across the world. At the Power Trip Conference hosted by DECA, organizations were represented from many of the fifty states, as well as Honduras and Canada.
The Power Trip Conference had a very full schedule, including practice tests, entertainment, workshops and sessions from guest key note speakers like Laymon Hicks, and Josh Sundquist. Students were given many opportunities to improve their leadership abilities, and participated in small group activities related to entrepreneurship, team building, and effectively marketing through social media. DECA members Mikayla Blankenship and Jake Matthews received top role play as they competed against approximately two thousand students. The DECA power trip also allowed students a limited amount of down time to explore the city, ending it with a group night tour of DC's most popular monuments. All in all, the trip to DC was an excellent and educational experience for all students, and advisors, participating.
